Zevendonk is a village of Turnhout in the Antwerp Kempen located between the city itself cut off from the city by the highway E34), Oud-Turnhout, Kasterlee, Lichtaart and Tielen. This second oldest village in the city of Turnhout now has about 2000 souls, which amounts to about 600 families. Since 1694, the village of Zevendonk has had its own church. Turbulent years followed and after a struggle, in which the villagers ignored the orders of the then chapter and paid their own priest, came the period of Napoleon in which Zevendonk was one of the five auxiliary villages of the main church of St. Peter's.
