Sart-Risbart

Sart-Risbart is a hamlet in the Belgian province of Walloon Brabant. It is located in Opprebais, a borough of Incourt. Sart-Risbart is the western part of the municipality of Incourt.

In the village there is a former local railway station and depot of Sart-Risbart. The station was opened on 1 September 1900 on the local railway line from Incourt to Chastre and Courcelles in Hainaut, which was fully operational on 17 October 1904. This line was a strategic local railway connection from Hainaut to Jodoigne and the rest of the local railway network in Brabant and the rest of the country. On 24 April 1902, a branch line to Gembloux was opened from Sart-Risbart. On 30 September 1950, the passenger service to Chastre was discontinued. The Jodoigne-Gembloux passenger service was discontinued on 1 June 1958. All freight services were discontinued in 1959 and the tracks on the sections were dismantled in 1960. The station yard with tracks was sold to a private individual who removed the tracks at the station himself. Nothing can be seen of the section to Chastre anymore. This section of track was ploughed and is now part of a field. The line to Gembloux was used as an agricultural road for a while but is now overgrown and private land. A small area near the station is used as a walking route.
