The Old Mill is located at an elevation of 74 m on "Hoogboekhout" and dates back to 1785. It was built by Jozef van Lierde at a site where a wooden mill previously stood. In 1943, this stone mill was protected as a monument and grinding continued until 1950. It was restored in 1957-1958 by Dr. J. Cuvelier, and again in 1993 by the current owner Dirk Nevens. At the corner of Molenberg and Molenweg, there is a beautiful chapel, dedicated to Our Lady, built in 1887 by Petrus H. Joseph Roseleth, father of Henri, who was also the mayor of Hekelgem at that time.
