Along the quay, new housing with a view of the water is now rising.

Although the Senne has been vaulted in the city, the water has not disappeared. The canal can now be considered THE watercourse of Brussels. The beautiful developments around the Béco basin and the success of the events held there every summer demonstrate the appeal of a watercourse in a city and the role that its quays can play as public meeting spaces.

A better integration of the canal into the city is the challenge that Brussels residents face. Once neglected spaces, the banks of the waterway are now being revitalized. At the Béco basin, housing is springing up, a park is in the works, the quays continue to be redeveloped for urban dwellers, a 'Picard' footbridge will allow crossing over the canal, and the former Citroën garage is becoming a major cultural hub with the establishment of a modern art museum.

The proximity of the canal to remarkable heritage elements and historical centers is also an asset that should be leveraged for tourism. The canal also plays a role in the development of soft mobility with the Waterbus (a future public transport means) and the beautiful dedicated bike path that runs alongside it, which will improve in quality with the construction of footbridges under the bridges.
