Art has fascinated me since high school, but circumstances forced me to take a different path. I learned my love for art from my in-laws; their outings were an awakening for me, often heading towards galleries, museums, or other exhibitions. However, I especially lacked the time to get started myself.
Nevertheless, it always lingered, and over the years, I collected elements, thoughts, imaginations, and objects to do something with "later."
For a few years now, I have been studying sculpture at the academy in Oudenaarde.
In my works, which are more like collages of objects, I use natural elements and forms, combining them with found objects, sometimes to make a statement, and sometimes with humor. There is a whole process before I proceed to create the work. Everything has already come to fruition in my imagination.
I am particularly interested in the improper use of materials. Therefore, during my specialization in sculpture, I wanted to investigate if the materials used evoke the same emotion in the viewer as they do in me.
One of the exhibited works is made up of pieces of wood from coffins retrieved from the excavations of the old cemetery in the center of Kruishoutem.
