The Zuunsite, an ecological connection between the canal and Vogelzang

This somewhat neglected green space between the canal and nature reserve Vogelzang in Anderlecht (on the Brussels side) will soon be upgraded by Brussels Environment. The green zone is located between the Zuunbeek, the reserve and the canal and has great potential as an ecological corridor: this role will be strengthened, and there will also be a better connection for pedestrians. The existing footpath is also part of the Green Walk.

The last downstream segment of the Zuunbeek (on the Flemish side) flows through the business zone 3 Fonteinen. Within the framework of the Senne Valley strategic plan, they are trying to work on better nature, better quality of the watercourses and also to better arm the business zone against flooding. This is a complex challenge due to vaulting, ownership situations and limited available space.
