More than 100 springs in Brussels !

From the depths below the sandy Groeselenberg, the sources of the Uccle brook bubble out of the ground all along the De Frélaan. The Uccle brook was once a tributary of the Senne but has now largely disappeared underground, where it ends up in a collector. Near the Russian embassy, hikers can reach one of those springs via a staircase. This spring is incorporated into a metal pole with a lion's head at the bottom that spits out the water. Unfortunately, since the 1970s, this water has no longer been drinkable, partly due to a high nitrate concentration. At the back of the fountain is another spring area. Furthermore, we should also mention here two paths in the immediate vicinity, because of their name which refers to the presence of water: the Fountain Path and the Source Way.
