At the foot of the Molenbeek lock and on certain stone riverbank walls that follow, along the Quai du Hainaut on the left bank, a flora linked to the rocks appears every spring, in the heart of the city, thanks to small crevices in these walls that allow them to thrive. Among them, for example, are the Marsh everlasting, the Deer horn plantain, the False maidenhair, the Male fern, the Hairy willowherb, the Cymbalaria, the Creeping sagina, the Small-flowered watercress, or even the Wall rue. This atypical flora undoubtedly adds value to the ecological diversity of the canal, and selective maintenance of these riverbank walls would help preserve it.
