On an eminence overlooking Mélin (107 m, above sea level), the church of Mélin outlines its imposing mass. Dedicated to Our Lady of the Visitation, it was already part of the patrimony of Saint-Guibert, founder of the Abbey of Gembloux, who, in 946, donated all his possessions to the community. Built in neoclassical style, it dates from 1780, as evidenced by the date inscribed on the ceiling above the rood screen. The main altar, in the Louis XV style, is surmounted by a painting on wood, by Léon Herbot, dated 1874, representing Saint Dominic receiving the rosary from the hands of the Virgin. The choir is adorned with elegant Louis XVI panelling in 1788 by the Tirlemont artist A.J. Gillis. The organ, built in 1616 and classified as a historical monument, is one of the oldest in Walloon Brabant.
