A green and blue corridor between the buildings
The Héronnière park, like a green and blue corridor, connects three entities. This semi-natural park is an example of a contemporary space designed for both recreational and ecological purposes.
In 1992, the municipality of Watermael-Boitsfort ceded the site to the Brussels-Capital Region. The park was developed by Brussels Environment and inaugurated on June 1, 1997. It was created from the remnants of an ancient valley and nearby green spaces. A small stream was able to be reconstructed, allowing aquatic plants to recolonize the perimeter.
The different bodies of water are connected by a semi-natural wood and an understory, where two deer parks are located.
At the entrance to the site, there are rented vegetable plots, a cyclo-cross track, playgrounds, and a petanque court.
