This is the Jette-Ganshoren swamp. Here you can find forty species of birds and a dozen amphibians. And this at cycling distance from the Brussels city center. It is right on the border with Flanders and may be one of the best-kept secrets of the Brussels-Capital Region. This area, together with the Ganshoren swamp, is one of the last remnants of the Molenbeek valley. Although the land was divided in two at the end of the 19th century by the arrival of a railway between Brussels and Dendermonde. Since 1995, the swamp has been, rightly so, a protected nature reserve.
