More than 100 sources in Brussels !
Two springs supply the Hermit Pond in the Sonian Forest. This pond is divided in two by a path and is also crossed by the Vuylbeek. The most upstream spring, which is two meters from the pond, is betrayed by the large amount of Brusselian sand that its water has brought there. The other source is located at a distance of about 8 meters from the second part of the pond which is dominated by an island. Halfway through the trench that the water has dug, a few sand clouds regularly appear: we can therefore speak of a spring in the spring. The supply of water from these two sources with an important flow rate was more than enough to quench the thirst of the pious man who had retired to this part of the forest in the Middle Ages and who gave his name to the pond. Please do not deviate from the paths in this particularly valuable nature reserve.
