From the street, you can see the Bourse (Stock Exchange) building in the distance, where wealthy industrialists would sell their shares in person. The houses that line the street are stately apartment blocks for the wealthier population that belong to the prestigious set of the Bourse. As you walk away from the Bourse you come to Molenbeek, which was called the Manchester of the continent in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Dansaert district is the Flemish neighbourhood of Brussels, which gave rise to the term ‘Dansaertvlamingen’ (Dansaert Flemings). The 'Hombres Complicados' once lived here together in the large apartment building with exotic fresco on the top floor. The ‘hombres’ are Marc Didden, Josse De Pauw, Arno Hintjens, Dominique Deruddere and Jan Decorte. The rich industrialists who sold their shares on the stock exchange have also disappeared from the district.
