Artist: Daniel Junius
Text: Jan Michiels
Location: De Knipoog, Kouterlaan Mazenzele
In 2015, Mazenzele was named "Village in the Spotlight" by the National Guilds. The national Guild Opwijk-Mazenzele therefore thought it desirable to commemorate this event with a work of art. The Opwijk cultural council was happy to support this initiative financially and to include it in the arts trail.
Mazel the "White Village" of yesteryear is no more, the famous cherry orchards for which Mazenzele was famous have largely disappeared from our municipality, just like the proud hop stakes. But in the memory of many people, this blossom splendor lives on. It makes us happy that the 2 cherry trees next door and this work of art will keep that memory alive.
Daniël Junius, the designer and Jan Michiels who wrote the beautiful text have made the "White Village" unforgettable through this image.
