King Baudouin Park

The park extends over the Molenbeek valley and forms a set of semi-natural landscapes and more recreational areas. It is also an integral part of a Natura 2000 site.

The first part of the site includes the Sacred Heart Garden and the lowest part of the Molenbeek valley. This area has been transformed into a classic landscape park with a variety of lawns, ponds, plant borders, forest and poplar plantations. The northern flank is bordered by the Dieleghem forest.

In the second part , a pond was constructed. With an ecological objective, the verges of this pond were restored to provide them with a typical waterfront planting.

The third part is characterized by a park area around the chalet of Laarbeek, meadows, the orchard, the petting zoo of Jette and the site of the Gallo-Roman villa. You will find springs everywhere and it is crisscrossed by small picturesque paths.

It is immediately adjacent to the Laarbeek forest, the nature reserve of Poelbos and the nature reserve of the marsh of Jette. Many trees have been included in the inventory of remarkable trees in the Brussels-Capital Region. Several playgrounds have recently been created in the three parts of the park (Environnement.Brussels, n.d.).

Several hikes run through the area such as the "green walk" or the GR 126 (Brussels - Semois valley). This developed route in the King Baudouin Park is largely parallel to the GR 126 trail.

The park is a real green oasis in the city with numerous resting spots. It is definitely recommended to stop here.
