Dreamin 'of Inspiration by Smug

Beauty is transient

Although street art can be mind-blowing, transience is engrained in the DNA of this art form. Paintings that are exposed day and night to changing weather conditions are bound to start fading over time. And sometimes they disappear very fast, as in the case of Dreamin’ of Inspiration, Smug’s baroque mural. The work was one of the baroque murals that were created during Antwerp Baroque 2018. But the owner of the wall had also stated that the mural would disappear afterwards. This will happen soon/The mural has since been removed.

Gigantic and hyper realistic

The Australian artist Smug, who lives in Glasgow, was invited to Antwerp by Rise One, who felt that his huge, photorealistic murals with bold colour contrasts were just right for the festive baroque year in the city. You need a lot of experience and talent to make this type of work, something which Smug obviously has tons of.

Imagine your own story

The man in this mural seems to be thinking, while the shoppers under him walk past. Or perhaps he is listening somewhat indulgently to the murmurs that rise up from the street. Who knows, he may just be nodding off and no longer hears the noise. It’s entirely up to you. And perhaps you may even imagine something entirely different.
