This park was opened in 2019. It replaced an extremely desolate part of Brussels: an area of land under tarmac, with empty warehouses, a decrepit car wash and a depot of the waste collection agency Bruxelles-Propreté. The redesign was discussed for more than ten years, but the result lived up to expectations. The park has created vistas and an enormous sense of space, and in fine weather it’s a popular meeting place for local residents from both sides of the Canal. For Cureghem as a whole, could it be the first sign of a future with even more greenery and breathing space?
