The route takes us further to the old mill on the Molenberg. “Until 2020, there was only a weathered ruin here,” Pieter explains. “This windmill was also set on fire during WWI.” Meanwhile, necessary consolidation works have ensured its preservation. “It’s still a ruin, but one that can’t deteriorate any further.” It can be visited every first Sunday of the month. “Make sure to pay attention to the special double helix staircase,” he adds. “You can find such a staircase, among others, in the Vatican.”
