This castle was once a "court with huys van plaisance", surrounded by ramparts and lanes. In the middle of the 18th century, the domain with beautiful park was owned by P.d'Hane, lord of Eeckhove. In 1894 the old castle was rebuilt to a design by architect A. Marchand. Behind the garden fence are three monumental old chestnut trees; one of them is the thickest chestnut tree in Belgium. The park was redeveloped in landscape style at the end of the 19th century, with pond, ice cellar and pavilion.
