In the center of Spa is the Maison Charlier, also known as Garage Bourguet, the work of architect Gustave Charlier (1848-1922), considered one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau houses in the province of Liège.
The pastel green colors and the ironwork draw the vegetarian card. One of the first things that catches the eye is the color of the house. The glazed bricks of the facade are shades of jade and pastel green. And then there are the flowers.
There are three ceramic tile panels with poppies in the top of the facade. There are wall anchors with sunflowers, wrought iron balconies with flowers and even the metal panels under the bay window are decorated with flowers.
It was built between 1900 and 1902. Gustave Charlier (1848-1922) was a carpenter, architect and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. The project was commissioned by Victor Collard, industrialist and Vice-President of the Commercial Court of Liège.
Today Antiquités François Compère is located at this address, an antique dealer specialized in Chinese and Asian art, silverware, glassware (Val Saint Lambert, Gallé, Daum....), sculptures, paintings, clocks, watches....
