Description

Already in 1400 there was a Saint Job worship in Puivelde at a tree chapel. Jacob Van Moere, a noble scion, was murdered here in 1414 and to expiate his guilt, the murderer built a stone chapel on this site. He suffered from the iconoclasm and looting. Around 1800 the church became an auxiliary church of Belsele and in 1897 Puivelde became an independent parish. The current neo-Gothic church dates from 1904-1905 and was designed by the Ghent architect Hendrik Geeraert.Already in 1400 there was a Saint Job worship in Puivelde at a tree chapel.
