Already around 1770 there was a tree chapel here. Later, a stone chapel was built. During the 14-18 war, people came here every day to pray for the boys at the front. In 1920, contractor A. Smet built the current neo-Gothic chapel. The chapel dedicated to Our Lady is surrounded by lime trees and is the centrepiece of this Marian sanctuary. In 1972-73 a beeweg was erected in the forest opposite on the site opposite the chapel.
