Wherever the pond is, there has always been a perch . A pond for fish farming was probably created here in the Middle Ages . The pond was later deepened into a castle pond and then into a fire pond for the nearby furniture factory (Hero) (current Joris Ide locations).
Zorgvliet is a Natura 2000 area , which means that the valuable plants, animals and their habitat are protected here at European level. That is why the banks of the pond are sloped and cared for in an environmentally friendly manner. The gently sloping banks form a biotope mixture . Various signs inform you about the special features of the various places during your hike.
