The Pouhon du Ruy is a source in the valley of the Roannay. The stone building contains an inscription with 'Pouhon du Ruy - Année des fontaines 1990'.
The Pouhon du Ruy supplies natural mineral water, rich in iron, which in the last centuries (the first mention dates back to 1552) provided the inhabitants of Moulin-du-Ruy and surrounding villages with drinking water. The source discharges the water through a tree trunk dug into a funnel and completely petrified.
The building was renovated in 1990.
The Roannay is a tributary of the Amblève. It rises on the plateau of the High Fens near Francorchamps. The valley quickly takes the form of a deep forested valley that is sparsely populated. Then the valley takes on a kind of pastoral aspect and more meadows appear, interspersed with forest areas. Beautiful views caress the eyes of the many hikers.
The Roannay flows through the hamlets of Ruy and Moulin du Ruy before finishing its 11 km course on the right bank of the Amblève to Roanne-Coo between the waterfall of Coo and the village of La Gleize.
