On July 26, 1882, the city of Spa was flooded by the waters of the Wayai , and in 1890, the city decided to build a dam that would form Lake Warfaaz . Its construction took four years.
Lake Warfaaz is located at the gates of the city of Spa in the Ardennes, in the east of the province of Liège. It has an area of 6.5 ha, a maximum length of 600 m and a maximum width of 200 m. The depth varies from 1 to 7 m. It is fed by the Wayai, which has its source in the hamlet of the same name and passes through the town Spa flows and flows into the Hoegne in Theux. There are plenty of walks and restaurants near the lake where you can eat or just have a drink. Children have access to a playground where they will not get bored.
Most fish species are represented in the lake, so you can fish for trout, salmon, zander, perch and whitefish (tench, bream, roach, carp, karin). Practically all fishing styles are allowed , jab, feeder, bottom, live fish, dead fish, floats, dead fish, swim fish, soft bait, and spoons. Fishing with the boat is not allowed.
In 1979 , the silted up lake was pumped out for a complete clean -up. On the last day of work, a violent storm completely filled the lake in 36 hours.
