That must be some kind of crocodile as described as a lizard but the size of a calf. It's not out of the water. By the way, if it shows the sight, it means that a great disaster is coming.
The name 'De Nekker ' comes from Nigger (a water devil) who, according to legend, lived in the pond and 'bred' strays. According to legend, Sint-Rombout expelled the Nekkers.
This artwork by S. Collard et F. Pierret is part of the "Promenade des Legendes / Promenade des Légendes". It is a 2.2 km circular route in Laforêt where more than 10 creatures from the legends once told about fire are staged.
