Gentbrugse Meersen

For centuries, the Gentbrugse Meersen, like the Heirnis, was a large meadow area that was flooded by the Scheldt water every winter. The deposition of fertile river silt made these lands ideal grazing pastures for cattle. Today, this nature reserve is characterized by a rich fauna and flora, accommodations for both young and old as well as for "Harvest goods". Oogstgoed is a CSA self-harvest farm. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, agriculture that is done together in the community where the members can buy a harvest share at the beginning of the year. In return, you can harvest the vegetables, fruits and herbs yourself all year round. They also let the cows of organic farm "De Zwaluw" graze freely in the area of the Gentbrugse Meersen and with the milk "Oogstgoed" later makes delicious farm ice cream. For example, you could conclude that this organization is a commons, just like the Heirnis, which was located on the other bank of the Scheldt.
