The Motte is a tributary of the Demer. The mouth is just before Aarschot. Already in the Middle Ages, the course was canalized, excavated and diked in various places. We are here at the point where the winding Oude Motte passes to the straightened Nieuwe Motte. A little further downstream, the Motte flows to the watermill and schoonhoven castle. In the 19th century, the stream was part of a irrigation system for hay meadows, the ''. Due to the phosphate-rich water, grass production was increased. Today there is a wet forest here, often still planted with poplars. In the spring you will discover beautiful spring bloomers such as forest anemone, great wall and teatweed on drier parts along the road.
