This memorial column is located on a small square in the Kapellestraat in Oostkamp.
Unlike other municipalities, Oostkamp has a memorial column for the first world war next to the Sint-Pieterskerk and another memorial column for the second world war in the Kapellestraat.
Also in Oostkamp, May 8, the end of the second world war, is commemorated every year with a procession to the memorial column 1940-1945 in the Kapellestraat. The column always pays tribute to the Oostkamp victims and the liberators who fell here.
