Some roads traditionally lead from Reuland to the old parish of Weweler, where the inhabitants of Reuland still bury their dead. The modern road from Reuland to Weweler was built as a stations of the cross and leads steeply over the old Spoorwegstraat through the forest to the village of Weweler with the Gothic church. With the construction of the railway, however, this road was intersected. In order to allow passers-by to pass without danger, a steep bridge was built over the railway lines, 'the leaning bridge of Reuland', as it would be popularly called. In the immediate vicinity was a spring, which still provides potable water today. During the Second World War, an arch of the bridge was covered with a zinc plate and expanded into a guardhouse for the train passengers from Reuland. A stop was set up at this place because the station of Reuland was about two kilometers away from the village. When the German army withdrew in September 1944, some strategic structures were dynamited by the commandos. The 'leaning bridge' also became a victim of this. The rubble was only cleared years after the war and until then blocked the church road to Weweler.
