Take a look at the top of the roof, just below the triangular pediment. A post horn! In 1852, the Prussians established a postal service here. You can see that number both on this horn and on the stone above the entrance door. When the carriage arrived in the village, the coachman blew a horn. The postal service was very efficient: if you gave a letter from Burg Reuland for Aachen, it was already at its destination the next day.
