Photovoltaic parking of Pairi Daiza

The photovoltaic parking lot of Pairi Daiza is a parking area and a solar photovoltaic power plant located north of the Pairi Daiza estate, in Cambron-Casteau, in the municipality of Brugelette, Belgium. The work began in July 2019 and it was commissioned in 2020. The parking lot located just north of Pairi Daiza is intended to accommodate an extension of the zoo during the 2020s. A new parking lot was established in July 2019 in place of fields north of the existing parking lot, which is no longer used when the photovoltaic parking lot becomes operational in 2020. A total of 62,750 solar panels are installed, with a total power of twenty megawatts peak. The design and development are carried out by the company Perpetum Energy. This allows the zoo to produce more energy than it needs. An area of 104,000 m2 is covered, and the structures are made of wood sourced from Belgian forests.
