The Klapgat is a small passage in front of the tower of the Sant Joan church.
Church-goers used to gather in the corridor after Mass to chat ( "applause" ). They did it with such intensity that the corridor was named Klapgat. A statue of Christ oversaw the gossips in the Ölhof .
In the small chapel next to the statue you can see a group of statues behind bars . The wooden sculptural group depicts Jesus with 3 sleeping apostles. In the past, believers used to gather for prayer in difficult times. Then they place a "Suske" (1 cent) or a "Penny" (2 cents) in the built-in bid block.
