Noordhof

The city park is the ideal place to escape the busy city center. Children can let off steam on the playground equipment or on the skate ramp, while adults can hone their fitness on the outdoor fitness equipment. Other visitors can enjoy the public barbecue equipment.

In April 2018, the makeover of the Noordhof was started, with which the city council continued the greening of the center. The aim was to make it a green and open meeting place in the city centre.

Because the park is an important bicycle axis, a comfortable, wide, concrete bicycle path was constructed. In this way, the city park was extended over the Noordhof to the Noordstraat, resulting in maximum accessibility.

Many new seating areas in a green setting make the square a pleasant place to be. The existing trees were preserved and a new lawn provides an extra green breath of fresh air.

The pavement flows smoothly from a closed pavement around the seating elements into an open pavement with grass tiles. The many beds of perennials add a colourful touch to the whole. In addition to the extra greening, a number of interventions were also carried out to promote accessibility, mobility and a tidy environment.
