BEEMDENWANDELING 10KM - Get to know the rural Betekom!

We start at the church of Betekom. You can also park here. After 200 meters we enter the Heuvelstraat and we come between meadows and fields. When we are 1 kilometer on the road we come across a chapel that was placed to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Farmers' Union. After the chapel we cross some forest roads and head towards the Demerdijk. We are 3 kilometers away when we enter the Demerdijk. We turn onto the dike in the direction of Aarschot. We walk up to a bridge, where we go up and can cross to the other side of the Demerdijk. We return to Betekom. When we leave the Demerdijk again, we are 5 kilometers away. Via rural roads we arrive in the Vorsdonkbos-Turfputten. We walk through the forest and arrive at the Begijnendijksesteenweg. After 200 meters we pass the Demertrefplaats, a bridge made of corten steel. We turn onto the Demerdijk for 250 meters and then go back to the center of Betekom via a rural field road. After 9 kilometers we walk past the Memorial Cross of Lieutenant Valeran van de Kerckhove. Some quiet roads lead us back to the church of Betekom.
