In 1987, a hunting weapon was found here that had been stolen five years earlier from a gun shop in Dinant. It was sawed into pieces and packed in a plastic bag. The bag also contained other weapons used by the 'Bende van Nijvel'.
A chip shop owner near the docking area of the Canal of Ronquières saw two men standing by a dark old Golf around midnight after the attack on the Delhaize in Aalst, with a large pale station wagon parked nearby. The men by the Golf were busy changing a license plate.
Later, divers discovered the money case from the Aalst Delhaize at that spot in the canal, along with other robbery souvenirs.
