Today, the paved road along the Britspoelweg is called the Hooiveldweg and the unpaved part is called Geetsvondelweg. When we look at the primitive cadastral map from the mid-19th century, the entire route is marked with 'Tremelooschen weg'. And that is no coincidence, because for centuries this road has been the only connection between what is now Tremelo and Werchter. It was here that the residents of Tremelo travelled to Werchter for their religious and legal obligations.
In the direction of Tremelo there is a higher, drier donk on the left that has always been under the field. Even further west, peat was extracted in an old Demermeander. On the other side, that of the stream, we see a biologically very valuable wet forest area, where the former planting of poplars still dominates.
