About fifteen crosses are scattered in the village of Creppe and its surroundings.
The most emblematic, the Croix Ansay, is enthroned in the square not far from the church. Hubert Ansay's monument consists of a stone cross decorated with a Christ; it is surrounded by a fence of stone and cast iron. There is an inscription engraved: IHS IN MEMORY OF HUBERT ANSAY 1837. This cross is the result of a wish.
Born in Creppe on April 30, 1792, Hubert Ansay was a great traveller. One day he found himself in mortal danger (a shipwreck ) and made a vow to pay for the erection of a cross in his village if he were saved . Returning to Creppe, he had the cross erected as he had promised. Then, when his life was in danger, he made a wish. Thus, the village received several donations (in 1838 the chapel was equipped with a tower to place a second bell and in 1864 he offered the parish the land where the current cemetery is located).
Hubert Ansay died on March 13, 1866.
