This ice cellar is said to date from 1880.
The first ice cellar in Spa was built in 1766 in the rue de la Sauvenière. The ice was obtained from the ponds and stored in special cellars. Due to the great demand from the hoteliers of that time, several cellars were quickly built. In 1878, a slaughterhouse was built in the Vieux Spa district and it had an ice house built into the side of the hill. It was not until 1924 that the first ice factory appeared in Spa.
