The Crystal Ship street art - David Walker

David Walker grew up with the typical black and white images , but really made an impression when he allowed vibrant colors to seep into his work. He drips in paint and embraces both the photorealistic and the abstract to create impressive portraits of women . Fun fact: In his first job , Walker designed t-shirts for none other than The Prodigy.

Contrary to his custom, David Walker did not paint a realistic portrait. Instead, he chose the silhouette of a man with the message "A blank canvas is a white flag". Leaving a canvas blank is surrender, but the moment you start painting, you challenge the established order.

Thanks to The Crystal Ship, world-renowned and renowned artists, gigantic murals and interventions have been appearing in Ostend every year since 2016. Together, this forms an artistic trail in the city center and on the Green Ribbon around Ostend .

With a free cycling or walking map in hand, you can explore all the works of art on your own. You will not only see dozens of gigantic works of art in all shapes and sizes, but you will also get to know the different neighborhoods and facets of Ostend during the route.
