The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in Namêche was built in 1858, as a date on the portal of the tower seems to confirm.
It is built in neoclassical style . The special thing about this church is that it is built around a tower that dates from the end of the 16th century . The tower is made of limestone and has three levels, separated by an eaves and lit by round windows.
According to legend, the foundation of the first church of Namêche is attributed to Saint Materne.
The interior of the church of Namêche is home to several remarkably old funerary monuments , one of which is very astonishing : the Gothic reclining chair of Mélisinde de Hierges , wife of Guillaume de Goumignies, lord of Samson, who died in 1255. It is a rare example of 13th century sculpture . For a long time this tomb was wrongly attributed to Sybille de Lusignan.
