The Poaching Forest is located on the Belgian-Dutch border. Together with the adjacent forests, it forms a large forest complex of approx. 500 ha. The area has a very rich history: during the world wars there was a lot of smuggling in this area and goods were transferred across the border. The forests owe their name to the De Stroper family, who owned this area for a long time. The forests are managed with sheep and horses, which roam freely in the open landscape between the forests. There is also a bivouac zone in the middle of the Poaching Forest.
