At the border between the two Brabants, Flemish and Walloon, not far from the Bois de Halle, a small pocket of the Soignes forest remains: the Sept-Fontaines clearing. In the 14th century, there stood a powerful abbey of Augustinian monks, of which almost nothing remains today except for the stunning chain of ponds created by the brothers and a few buildings dependent on the abbey.
Where there is a convent, there are often ponds, as fishing nourished the community. The site is organized around nine ponds created by the monks. From the priory, nothing remains except for beautiful outbuildings (farms, mills, etc.) and the former guest house, now transformed into a private residence.
