The original medieval church was demolished in 1845 and replaced by the current building. However, it was badly damaged and had to be repaired after World War I.
The church is built in neo-Romanesque style and consists of three naves. Inside the church you will find beautiful stained glass windows : in the nave of the church they are rather modern stained glass windows, in the choir they are nineteenth-century stained glass windows. The pulpit is a remarkable example of beautiful artisan woodcarving: a globe carried by angels and guarded by the allegories of the evangelists: the bull and the eagle. The side altar of Our Lady contains the painting “The Birth of Jesus”, a copy after PP Rubens, while the other side altar shows a painting of Saint Martin, which is a copy after Antoon Van Dyck . The main altar is a sarcophagus altar in marbled wood. The partially gilded Revolving Tabernacle depicts the Supper at Emmaus, flanked by symbols of Faith and Hope.
During Christmas time, a romantic nativity scene is erected in front of the main altar, one of a kind.
