The windmill was built in 1215 by Lord Jean de Thimougies.
It was destroyed by a hurricane in 1606 . It was rebuilt and destroyed again by a storm in 1771 . The miller rebuilt it and the mill continued to operate until 1926. In 1943 the site was listed by the Royal Commission for Monuments and Sites.
On Thursday, January 10 , 2008, the mill collapsed again . It was rebuilt and inaugurated on Friday, April 1, 2022.
The windmill can be visited for a fee for a half-hour tour.
