This church originated as the third parish church of Izegem. The other two parishes, Sint-Tillo and Heilig Hart, are both located in the center - too far for the inhabitants of the Bosmolens. As the population in the Bosmolens continues to grow, the demand for a parish of its own arises from the early 1900s. It isn't until 1941 that the bishop agrees. It then takes another good 20 years before the white parish church is built. The cause of this delay is said to be related to a personal feud between the deciding Commission and the appointed Izegem architect Emiel Allewaert. Allewaert has to propose no less than 13 plans before he finally receives approval!
