After descending the Graafdreef, we find ourselves in a valley fed by the Wollenborre, a stream primarily active in winter with spring water. This Wollenborre flows into the Hoefijzer, where you have a beautiful view of this water feature in the shape of a horseshoe from the wooden bridge. With a bit of luck, you can hear and see the little grebe here. We continue our walk eastward along a narrow path, passing the ponds of the Drowned Children (a corruption of the name Verdoncken, ed.) which also have the status of nature reserve with valuable vegetation and fauna. The Karregatbeek connects these ponds from the Hoefijzervijver.
