Florete Flores Botanic Garden

Florete Flores is a collection garden with a special history, the origins of which lie in the former polder village of Oorderen. When Oorderen disappeared from the map in the middle of the last century due to the expansion of the port, René Vertommen (1920 – 2011) brought the garden with him to Heist-op-den-Berg.

The garden is divided into the following themes: bee plants, ground covers, insect plants, utility plants, herb plants, ferns, butterfly plants and climbing plants.

You don't have to be a botanist to enjoy this garden full of plants and flowers, it is literally buzzing with life.

A striking feature of the landscape are the hundreds of metres of hedges on the edges of the meadows. These hedges, which are mainly made up of hawthorn, are green ribbons along which animals can move safely or in which they can build their nests.

Nature lovers will find quiet observation points here for observing stonechat, lapwing, meadow pipit, barn swallow and others.
