Description

Small statue of a swimmer sitting on a steel column is by sculptor Mady Andrien. The statue (40 centimeters high), a bronze lady covered with a green patina, is mounted on a steel base.

It is a nod to the presence of water in the past. The Hoyoux flowed under the Pont Palais before the construction of the vaults behind the rue des Brasseurs and the Grand-Place around 1860.

The work was unveiled on May 16, 2006 by Mayor Anne-Marie Lizin.

The author, Mady Andrien, is already known in the Hut region. She comes from Engis and graduated from the Académie des Beaux-arts de Liège in 1960. She took part in numerous exhibitions.
