The Musée des Arts décoratifs, classified as Walloon heritage, is housed in a beautiful mansion from the Age of Enlightenment, the Hôtel de Groesbeeck - de Croix.
With its pleasant French-inspired garden, the museum has a beautiful collection of decorative arts from the 17th to the 19th century , including furniture, clocks and watches, paintings, sculpture, crystal and pottery. These pieces, most of which were made by Namur artists and studios , bear witness to the daily life of the aristocracy in the 18th century.
The garden was designed in 1937 by Hector Mathieu. He designed it with four parterres of boxwood and pruned yew trees surrounding a water feature, while creating a symmetrical perspective. The original pavilion at the end of the park further enhances it. These elements are reminiscent of the principles of André Le Nôtre's French garden. Within this regularity, a touch of English romance appears thanks to a bicentennial tulip tree , described as a remarkable tree.
